A 63-year-old man was hit by a box truck when crossing the road in his motorized wheelchair.
The accident occurred in Vista, CA on the night of Thursday, August 8th. The victim suffered from a broken leg after falling over due to the impact of the collision. A 26-year-old man was driving the 10-foot truck.
Following the accident, the 63-year-old man was taken to Palomar Medical Center to treat his injuries, which were reported as “non-life-threatening” by FOX 5 San Diego.
The 26-year-old truck driver spoke to San Diego County Police, who ruled that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident.
In December of 2017, the attorneys of Kohn Law Office and Skolnick Law Group represented the victim in a similar case. Also involving a 63-year old man in a wheelchair, the case resulted in a $1 million recovery — one of the largest wrongful death verdicts in the history of San Diego County. The case was brought to us by the brother of the victim, who was killed by an 89-year-old defendant who drove on to the sidewalk where the victim was sitting, outside of the Palomar Hospital emergency room.
