Have You Or A Loved One Been Injured In A Bicycle Accident?
Oceanside Bicycle Accident Attorney
Experienced Accident Lawyer In North San Diego County
Southern California is home to beautiful weather, and many people enjoy riding their bicycles to shops, the beach, or simply for exercise or fun. Most bicycle riders are careful and pay close attention as they ride the streets and neighborhoods in North San Diego County. Often, bicyclists can become involved in an accident resulting in serious injury even though they were following all operational laws.
A new law to help keep California bicycle riders safe took effect on September 16, 2014, as California Vehicle Code section 21760, which requires California drivers to stay at least 3 feet away when passing bicyclists. Before then, the law only required drivers to stay a safe distance away when passing a bicyclist but did not define how far a safe distance is. The new law provides that if there is not 3 feet of space, then drivers must slow down and wait until they can pass safely.
Unfortunately, many of these riders are injured by the cars, trucks, or even the motorcycles that they share our roads with. It only takes a moment of inattention or carelessness.
Bicyclists have little defense against the metal of a motor vehicle, and the resulting collisions usually result in serious injuries including:
- Open and closed head injury
- Traumatic brain injury
- Broken bones
- Injuries to the spine
- Broken hip or pelvis
- Knee injuries
- Wrongful death
If you or someone you love has been injured while riding a bicycle in San Diego, Oceanside, Vista, Carlsbad, and the surrounding areas due to the negligence of another motorist, it’s important to contact an experienced and proven personal injury lawyer to protect your rights.
